How to Fix Lenovo Camera Not Working in Windows 10

Lenovo laptop sometime create an unknown problem where its webcam doesn’t work. Whether it is windows 10 or 8. Imagine you are ready to join a meeting and then suddenly you are not able to use the webcam. Instead you see the camera picture with a cross. This happened with me during zoom meeting. It was saying “your webcam is not supporting”. There can be many reasons behind it. And this problem can occur in any laptop with any windows. If you have windows 10 or 8 in your laptop then you must know this step to solve this problem now or you may require in future.

Firstly lets discuss the reasons why your Lenovo laptop webcam is not working in windows 10

1) Missing drivers after the recent update

2) Your antivirus program is blocking the camera

3) Your Privacy setting and many more.

Now let’s see the solutions of your problem

Solution 1: Check the lens cover

Sometimes we are in so hurry that we forget to open the lens cover and panic why camera is not working. So work steadily.

Solution 2: Try to operate the webcam by function key. In your keyboard you can see the function buttons. It is usually F8 button. If the webcam is not operating the try using with the Fn button.

Solution 3: Enable using Lenovo Vantage App

Open the windows and then type Lenovo vantage app. If your laptop is not having this app then you have to download it from the app store.

When you find Lenovo Vantage app, then click on the menu icon at the top right and then click on the My device setting.

Then after going to setting you can see Display and Camera in large words, just click there.

Go to camera section.

And check the Camera Privacy Mode whether it is ON or OFF. For some reason the mode is turned ON as a Factory preset.

Solution 4: Turn OFF the Privacy mode in your laptop. Click on the start then Lenovo setting. Click on the camera icon to open the camera setting of your laptop. Scroll to the bottom of the page and then check for Privacy mode ON or OFF. Restart the computer.

Solution 5: Check for the Updates

Click on the start button then go to setting and then update and security, check if update is available. Sometimes our software needs a update and that’s why some feature might not work properly.

Solution 6: Device Manager

  • Check whether the camera is disable or enable in the Device Manager.
  • Press windows key and R key together to open Run dialogue
  • Then type devmgmt.msc in the box and click OK to continue.
  • In Device manager window see Imaging Devices and then right click it.
  • Choose enable to continue.
  • Restart your device to see whether the error has been resolved or not.

Solution 7: Re-install the Camera Driver

In order to fix the camera of your laptop you can try to re-installing the camera driver.

  • Press windows key and R key together to open Run dialogue
  • Then type devmgmt.msc in the box and click OK to continue.
  • In Device manager window see Imaging Devices and then right click it and choose to uninstall device.
  • Click YES to continue.
  • After that restart your computer.
  • Open device manager window again, click action choose Scan for hardware changes to continue.

By taking few steps you can make your device webcam enable again. A side impact is that it might make the webcam of your laptop bit harder to work properly. If you are lucky then the problem can be solve by taking these steps.

When all steps are finished reboot your device to check whether the problem with your webcam is fix or not.
